ON-CALL Documents on Workers' Comp
[Posted 05/27/04]
ON-CALL documents
#1922, “Workers’ Compensation Fraud,” and
# 1932, “Medical Provider Networks,” have recently been added to
CMA’s ON-CALL library. Document #1922 provides general information on California’s
workers’ compensation laws as they affect physicians, and discusses how
to identify, report, and respond to suspected cases of workers’ compensation
fraud. Document #1932 discusses medical provider networks, as provided for under
the recently enacted workers’ compensation reforms.
Existing ON-CALL documents
have also been updated to reflect the recent changes to the state’s
workers compensation system. The updated ON-CALL documents include:
- 1911, “Basics
of the Workers’ Comp System”
- 1915, “Health
Care Organizations”
- 1925, “Medical-Legal
Services”
- 1945, “Qualified
Medical Examiners”
- 1930, “Treating
Physicians: Obligations & Reports”
- 1929, “Treating
Physicians: Payment for Treatment”
- 1950, “Utilization
Review”
Although the new workers’ compensation
law was passed as an “urgency statute” and as such was effective
immediately upon its signing, many of the regulations that will ultimately
be used to implement the law have yet to be written. ON-CALL materials will
be updated as necessary once the regulations have been drafted.
ON-CALL documents are
available free to members at CMA's
members-only website. Nonmembers can purchase documents for $2 per page
from the CMA bookstore. For
