The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) is now accepting independent medical reviewer applications from interested physicians.

Effective January 1, injured workers may request independent medical review if they disagree with the diagnosis or treatment plan of the physicians in their Medical Provider Network (MPN). IMRs must be done by physicians (M.D. or D.O.) who have clinical knowledge and board certification in the area of care. The injured worker may request that the IMR include a physical examination.

Reviewers will be reimbursed based on the complexity of the examination, the length of the report, and the volume of records reviewed. A reviewer performing a complex evaluation that includes filing a six-page report and an hour of records review would be paid approximately $500.
