IMQ Hosts Conference on Medical Staff and Hospital Collaboration
[Posted 03/31/05]
IMQ has launched a new program to bring together medical staff leaders and hospital administrators to improve performance and quality of patient care. The first presentation of “Medical Staff and Hospital Collaboration in Performance Measurement and Quality Care” is May 20-21 at the Hyatt Regency in Newport Beach.
The program was developed at the request of CMA’s Organized Medical Staff Section, which found a need for an unbiased program on medical staff and hospital collaboration. “This program is important to the future of hospital/ medical staff relationships,” says Robert Pugach, M.D., chair of CMA’s Organized Medical Staff Section delegation. “There are other conferences directed at hospitals and medical staff leaders, but we were hard-pressed to find one that presents truly balanced models for collaboration and brings together hospitals and medical staffs to improve their effectiveness in delivering care.”
This program, the first in a series of medical staff/hospital collaboration workshops, focuses on pay-for-performance initiatives. Also covered will be broader issues, such as leadership skills and problem-solving strategies.
The faculty features many nationally recognized health care experts, including R. Adams Dudley, M.D., associate professor of medicine and health policy at UCSF’s Institute for Health Policy Studies, David S. P. Hopkins, Ph.D., director of quality measurement and improvement at Pacific Business Group on Health, and Barry Straube, M.D., Medicare’s chief medical officer.
Medical staff leaders, hospital administrators, and quality managers are encouraged to attend. Registration is $675 for CMA or CMA-OMSS members ($775 for nonmembers). Group discounts are available.
