The Center on Medicine as a Profession (CMAP) at Columbia University is now accepting applications for its 2006 Physician Advocacy Fellowship. The fellowship program trains physicians to advocate on behalf of the public interest and engage more fully in civil society, and promotes advocacy as a professional value for physicians.
Fellows work with community-based nonprofit advocacy organizations (such as the CMA Foundation) to design and implement advocacy projects that address social issues—such as access, racism, violence, and environmental hazards—that adversely affect public health and the delivery of health care in the United States.
Preliminary applications are due October 7.
